Spacing for Miniature and Dwarf Conifers in Small Gardens:Based on a 10 year planting plan, and for proportionality with plants the same size, we recommend the spacing below. Remember that the figures below are based on the horizontal inches of growth the plant does per year. Miniatures and dwarfs that are columnar or upright conical will use less space, though may grow the same amount of inches per year. Plant growing 1 inch a year: 20 inches apart when planted, thus giving 10 inches of space between two of this sized plant when 10 years old. Plant growing 2 inches a year: 40 inches apart when planted, thus giving 20 inches of space between two of this sized plant when 10 years old. Plant growing 3 inches a year: 60 inches apart when planted, thus giving 30 inches of space between two of this sized plant when 10 years old. Plant growing 4 inches a year: 80 inches apart when planted, thus giving 40 inches of space between two of this sized plant when 10 years old. Plant growing 5 inches a year: 100 inches apart when planted, thus giving 50 inches of space between two of this sized plant when 10 years old. Plant growing 6 inches a year: 120 inches apart when planted, thus giving 60 inches of space between two of this sized plant when 10 years old. |
