Fertilizing: Miniature and dwarf conifers do not need the same amount of
fertilizer as most large growing conifers. We like to recommend ½ of the amount
you are now using on other plants. Given too much fertilizer, these small plants
may push extra long stems. We call this bolting. You will lose the original shape
you had in mine for that special area. Sometimes with miniatures, bolting is enough
to kill the plant. Our recommendation for conifers is a balanced fertilizer such
as 20-10-10. Please ask your local garden center for the best product in your area.
